Story
My name is Brendan, i started leatherwork in early 2025 as a creative outlet and to be able to create lasting items for my family and myself, plus i felt like i was somehow channeling my inner Tolkien through the process. I started 4:11 Workshop in a small town in Oklahoma, alongside my wife. After years of interest in the craft, sporadic mentorship, and a few ugly but functional projects, I decided to jump in feet first. I started buying tools and leather, making as much as I could, and giving those projects to family and friends until I "perfected" my designs.
Our company name comes from 1 Thessalonians 4:11, a Bible verse telling us to live a quiet life and work with our hands—which we try to make our general way of life. We keep Christ as the center of our family and, by extension, the center of our business. 4/11 also happens to be the month and day my wife and I started dating.
My wife and I own a small 10-acre homestead that gives us and our two kids many opportunities to build skills in various crafts and professions. Additionally, I’ve spent nearly a decade and a half in blue-collar work, and those experiences come through in my designs. I try to create things that look great while being durable enough for the rough-and-tough life of blue-collar and farm work, with practicality as my number-one priority. In my opinion, I need things to work first, secondly I need them to last, and looking good comes in third.
All these experiences and philosophies have culminated in a brand I hope to build that will produce products our customers’ kids and grandkids will eventually enjoy.
